Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2022 (APAHM 2022) Celebration


The highlighted events in the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) Asian Pacific American Heritage Month 2022 (APAHM 2022) series program are coming on May 28 at DIA’s Detroit Film Theatre (DFT), Cultural Presentations at 12:30pm and Celebration Performance at 3pm.  With the rich and exciting cultural activities, we cordially invite you to share with us the celebration of APAHM in the heart of Metro Detroit!
 
DIA APAHM 2022 series program enhances AAPI community groups’ voices and experiences by showcasing a blend of traditional and contemporary dance, musical, art, and more.  Cultural Presentations invites AAPI artists based in Southeast Michigan come together to showcase their work informed by the traditions of their ancestral homes and their lived experiences in America.  Celebration Performance theme is “Evolution: The Road to Legacy is a performance that moves through this metaphor of migrating and evolving culture” presenting music, dance, language migration, and advanced technology from Asian cultures.  It is a collaboration between professional teams and cultural groups from various communities including Burmese, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Mongolian, Polynesian, Taiwanese, Thai, and Vietnamese to showcase the beauty of Asian Heritage.
